Murchison

Murchison
Murchison,
the oldest town in Northern Victoria, began in 1840 as an Aboriginal
Protectorate. It became, and still is, an important river crossing
place. The river provides a delightful backdrop for visitors wishing
to enjoy a relaxing stopover in peaceful surrounds. During World
War II many Italian prisoners of war were interned in this area.
A memorial to those who died was erected in Murchison where a commemorative
service is held every November.
